What you can catch

Provala holds carp, pike, zander, catfish, grass carp, silver carp, bass and bream (Bač vesti). Stevan Adamović, president of the angling club “Šaran” in Vajska, believes Provala may be the richest bass lake in Serbia; bass were first stocked in the 1980s (Bač vesti). Grass carp were released to keep the water plants in check and are caught mostly in September and October (Bač vesti).

Records

A catfish of 86 kg and 2.6 m, a 27 kg carp, pike of 8–9 kg, catfish of 30–40 kg and Prussian carp of 2–3 kg (Bač vesti). On sunny weekends dozens of anglers line the shore, and competitions are held here (Bač vesti, Turizmopedija).

Before you cast

  • The water is managed by the Fishing Association of Serbia (Bač vesti). You need a valid Serbian fishing licence; ask the “Šaran” club in Vajska or on site where to buy one and which rules apply at Provala.
  • In summer the beach is busy: fish away from the swimming area.
